For years American Muscle cars have been synonymous with power, masculinity, and pure testosterone. Is there anything better that hearing the power and torque behind a massive engine as you stomp on the gas? To this author, nothing comes close.
Dodge has been a premier name in American Muscle for over a century, and to this day continue to produce high-quality cars that are 100% American made.
To pay homage to this classic brand in Muscle car history, I have compiled my list of the Top 10 Dodge Muscle Cars to buy in 2016.
List Of Top 10 Dodge Muscle Cars to Buy in 2017
1) 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat
Kicking off our list was really a no brainer. When you think of Dodge muscle, the first thing that comes to mind is the Challenger. The 2015 Challenger Hellcat has to be the best challenger ever made. The recent battle for horsepower supremacy has been taken to an entirely new level with this car. 707, no that isn’t the model of a commercial airplane but rather the amount of horses this beast of a machine has under the hood. To put this power into perspective, no other muscle car has this sort of power and only a handful of other sports cars compete. If you have the cash for a Bugatti then by all means go ahead, but for a relatively reasonable $60,000 you can own a Challenger Hellcat and be riding with almost as much power.
2) 2015 Dodge Charger
If you had to pick one other Dodge you would associate with the brand not named Challenger, it would have to be the Charger. In fact I would have to label these 1a and 1b. It really comes down to a matter of taste, as they both have insane power and now the Charger is even available with the Hellcat engine, so you don’t have compromise in that department. Depending on your need for speed the engine on the Charger ranges from V-6 up to Hellcat so you can decide what works for you. The power together with sharp handling and an 8-speed transmission, and the 2015 charger is tough to beat.
3) Dodge Viper TA
The Viper may not exactly be classified as a muscle car but any list of dodge automobiles would be remiss to exclude this symbol of unconstrained speed. The sex appeal of the viper is unmatched with its sleek look, but don’t sleep on its power. With a ridiculous 640 horsepower, and a much lighter frame than the bigger muscle cars on this list, the Viper has a 0 to 60 time of 3.2 seconds. I’ll give you a second to let that sink in. Now this car isn’t cheap at over 100k, but if you have a wild streak and are looking for unconstrained speed, this is the car for you.
4) 1969 Dodge Cornet
For number 4 on our list we go back to 1969 with a classic in muscle car history. The cornet may be very tough to find these days but for someone with some time and money on their hands this would be a great addition to anyone’s collection.
5) 2006 Dodge Charger
The 2006 Charger was the first charger in 19 years. They came back with a bang on this one. It had a sleek new look that brought back the same feeling of power and muscle that had been missing for so many years. Luckily if you’re in the market these can be found quite easily second hand and for a reasonable price.
6) Dodge Durango
The Durango was Dodges first move into the world of modern day SUV’s. It most definitely is not the classic muscle car, however if you are looking for something a little more practical for the family man, but don’t want to go full-on soccer mom with the minivan, this would be the fit for you. They stopped production in 2009 but can be found easily almost anywhere in the country.
7) Dodge Ramcharger
The Ramcharger is the predecessor to the Durango, and is maybe the most rugged automobile Dodge has made.

8) 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T
9) 2009 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T
10) 2015 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack
I know this list has been heavy on the Charges. Call it my personal bias, but they are in my opinion, the best muscle cars on the road. These last few are just meant to give you a little more variety when it comes to models you may be looking at purchasing.
